Four Roses Distillery, known for its bourbon, has a history rooted in both a romantic tale and a legacy of distilling. The brand was established in 1888 by Paul Jones Jr., who trademarked the name after a purported proposal to a woman who promised to wear four roses to a ball if she accepted. While the romantic origin story is popular, some accounts suggest the name might be connected to the Rose family who founded a distillery in Kentucky. The distillery's location in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, known as the Old Prentice Distillery, was built in 1910 in a unique Spanish Mission-style architecture
